Contra Dance Basics
According to the Santa Barbara Country Dance Society, "contra dancing is social interaction, meeting people, and making new friends, set to music." It is that and more. A contra dance is a social dance in long line of couples called sets. Each dance is a series of connected figures that move couples up and down the set. The figures are described by a caller, who guides the dancers through the dance. Contra dancing is good exercise with a live band. Come try it for yourself!
